SOS Amazônia > The Huni Kuin Originary Map
In the last few years, invasions of indigenous lands
have tripled in the Amazon.
Almost 226 territories were invaded by farmers, fishermen,
loggers, and miners, and approximately 255 indigenous lands
remain without legal protection.
But how to engage a digital-first generation
with indigenous land demarcation?
By demarcating their screens.
For the first time, an indigenous land
was created by its own people: The Huni Kuin.
The entire biome was co-created with the Huni Kuin people,
in collaboration with activists and biologists,
exactly like in the Amazon, and with the same challenges.
Additionally, to promote the map, we co-created
a series of promotional materials
along with the Huni Kuin people.
